Akon is a globally recognized musician, producer, and entrepreneur known for his distinctive blend of R&B, hip-hop, and pop sounds. Born Aliaune Damala Badara Akon Thiam on April 16, 1973, in St. Louis, Missouri, Akon spent much of his early life between Senegal and the United States. His rich cultural background heavily influenced his musical style, which often fuses Western beats with African rhythms.
Akon first burst onto the music scene in 2004 with the release of his debut album, Trouble.
