DJ Snake, born William Sami Étienne Grigahcine on June 13, 1986, is a French DJ, record producer, and songwriter who has become one of the leading names in electronic dance music (EDM) and pop over the past decade. Known for his high-energy tracks, international collaborations, and ability to blend genres like trap, hip-hop, and house, DJ Snake has created some of the biggest party anthems of the 2010s and beyond.

Raised in Paris, France, DJ Snake grew up in a culturally diverse neighborhood and was heavily influenced by the city’s urban and hip-hop scenes. As a teenager, he began DJing at local clubs and quickly gained a reputation for his eclectic sets and production skills. The name “DJ Snake” was a nickname given to him in his youth for his ability to slip away from trouble, and it stuck as his professional moniker.

DJ Snake’s rise to international fame began when he co-produced “Turn Down for What” with American producer Lil Jon in 2013. The explosive track, known for its pounding bass and unforgettable drop, became a global hit, reaching the top ten on the Billboard Hot 100 and achieving multi-platinum status in several countries. Its viral music video and relentless party energy turned DJ Snake into a household name almost overnight.

Following this breakout success, DJ Snake released a string of chart-topping collaborations. In 2015, he teamed up with Major Lazer and MØ for the global smash “Lean On,” which became one of Spotify’s most-streamed songs of all time and dominated charts worldwide. The track blended EDM, dancehall, and pop influences, showcasing DJ Snake’s talent for creating crossover hits with mass appeal.

In 2016, DJ Snake released his debut studio album, Encore, which featured a mix of high-energy bangers and radio-friendly tracks. The album included hits like “Middle” featuring Bipolar Sunshine and the multi-platinum “Let Me Love You” featuring Justin Bieber. The latter became a major international hit, peaking at No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100 and further solidifying DJ Snake’s reputation as a hitmaker.

DJ Snake continued his hot streak with tracks like “Taki Taki” in 2018, a fiery reggaeton-inspired anthem featuring Selena Gomez, Cardi B, and Ozuna, which topped charts in multiple countries and became a YouTube sensation with over 2 billion views. His second album, Carte Blanche (2019), expanded his global sound, including collaborations with artists like J Balvin, Anitta, and Tyga.

Despite his global fame, DJ Snake remains relatively private about his personal life. He often keeps the focus on his music and performances, rarely discussing his relationships or personal affairs in the media. Known for his stylish image and energetic stage presence, DJ Snake frequently headlines major festivals like Coachella, Tomorrowland, and Ultra Music Festival.

Today, DJ Snake continues to be a major force in electronic music, consistently delivering international hits while blending diverse sounds and cultures into his signature style.
