OneRepublic is an American pop-rock band known for their anthemic hits, emotionally driven lyrics, and polished production. Since breaking into the mainstream in the mid-2000s, the band has built a reputation for crafting radio-friendly tracks that blend pop, rock, and soulful elements, earning them fans around the world.
Formed in 2002 in Colorado Springs, Colorado, OneRepublic was founded by lead vocalist Ryan Tedder and guitarist Zach Filkins. The two musicians, friends from high school, reunited after college and began writing songs together. They soon expanded the lineup to include Drew Brown (guitar), Brent Kutzle (bass, cello, keyboards), and Eddie Fisher (drums). Following the success of “Apologize,” OneRepublic released other popular singles from their debut, including “Stop and Stare.” Their sophomore album, Waking Up (2009), delivered a string of memorable hits like “All the Right Moves,” “Secrets,” and “Good Life,” solidifying the band’s place on the international music scene.
In 2013, OneRepublic reached new heights with the release of their third album, Native. The record produced some of their biggest hits to date, including “Counting Stars,” a folk-tinged anthem that became one of the most viewed music videos on YouTube and peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100. Other notable tracks from the album include “If I Lose Myself” and “Love Runs Out.”
The band continued their success with albums like Oh My My (2016) and Human (2021), which featured songs like “Wherever I Go,” “Rescue Me,” and “Run.” Their sound evolved over time, incorporating more electronic and pop influences while maintaining the heartfelt songwriting that fans have come to expect.
Outside of OneRepublic, Ryan Tedder has earned acclaim as one of the most sought-after songwriters and producers in the music industry, collaborating with major artists such as Adele, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift, and Ed Sheeran.
