Event Description (Available Tickets Below Video)
Twenty One Pilots (21 Pilots) is an American musical duo known for their genre-blending sound, emotionally charged lyrics, and high-energy performances. Combining elements of alternative rock, hip-hop, pop, and electronic music, the band has built a devoted fanbase and achieved major commercial success over the past decade.
The band was originally formed in 2009 in Columbus, Ohio, by Tyler Joseph (vocals, keyboards, bass, ukulele) along with his college friends Nick Thomas and Chris Salih. After the departure of Thomas and Salih in 2011, drummer Josh Dun joined, solidifying the duo that fans recognize today. Joseph’s introspective lyrics and genre-hopping songwriting paired with Dun’s powerful, dynamic drumming gave the band a distinctive identity in the indie and alternative scenes.
Twenty One Pilots gained a grassroots following through relentless touring and self-released albums. Their debut, Twenty One Pilots (2009), and follow-up, Regional at Best (2011), helped them build a solid online and local fanbase. Their breakthrough came in 2012 when they signed with Fueled by Ramen, a label known for nurturing alternative acts like Panic! At The Disco and Paramore.
In 2013, they released their label debut album Vessel, which featured standout tracks like “Car Radio,” “Holding On to You,” and “House of Gold.” The album showcased their unique mix of rap verses, piano-driven ballads, and alternative rock energy. Vessel steadily grew in popularity, earning the band a loyal following.
Their major commercial success arrived with Blurryface in 2015, an album centered around the concept of a character named Blurryface who represents Joseph’s insecurities and anxieties. The record produced massive hits like “Stressed Out” and “Ride,” both of which became radio staples and topped charts worldwide. “Stressed Out” in particular became a generational anthem, peaking at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earning the duo a Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance in 2017.
Building on that momentum, Twenty One Pilots released Trench in 2018, an album praised for its deeper themes of mental health, identity, and escapism. Songs like “Jumpsuit,” “My Blood,” and “Chlorine” showcased the band’s evolving sound, blending darker tones with catchy hooks and cinematic storytelling.
In 2021, the duo released Scaled and Icy, a lighter, more pop-infused album born during the pandemic lockdown. Singles like “Shy Away” and “Saturday” highlighted a more upbeat, optimistic direction while retaining the introspective lyricism the band is known for.
Throughout their career, Twenty One Pilots has earned a reputation for unforgettable live performances, often featuring daring stunts, crowd interaction, and elaborate stage setups. Their ability to connect with fans through raw, honest music and genre-defying songs has made them one of the most compelling acts in modern alternative music.
Today, Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun continue to tour globally and release new music, maintaining their status as one of the most unique and innovative duos in the industry.
